A successful Trivial Pursuit!

Geelong Viqueque Friendship Schools’ Trivia Night Friday 29th April, 2022

This year, the committee made a decision to hold a Trivia Night, rather than a Dinner as we have done in previous years. What a great decision! The Trivia Night was an outstanding success, both financially and socially. Thank you to everyone who contributed in so many ways, big and small.

We sold 239 tickets and some who could not come, made a donation. We received $665 in cash donations. We ran a raffle, an auction, games of “nearest the bottle” and “know your geography”.

Thank you, first of all, to our quiz masters extraordinaire – Mick and Erin Nunan who kindly donated their time and skills. They came with a great reputation for running a fun night and they didn’t disappoint.

Thank you to Glenn Davey, principal of Geelong High School, for making the school hall available to us for the night. Thank you, Glenn, for your skills in dealing with the recalcitrant digital projector. Thank you to the school’s maintenance staff who assisted with setting up. Thank you also for providing the supplies for the coffee and tea.

Thank you to the Scouts and their Leaders from the Geelong Rivers Venturer Unit for looking after the coffee and tea stand on the night.

Thank you to St Joseph’s College and Clonard College’s maintenance and office staff who so willingly helped with providing tables and taking tables to and from their respective schools.

Thank you to all our very generous friends who donated goods for the raffle– we were able to offer 45 items for the raffle which helped raise over $2300.

Thank you to

  • Clare & Kieran Hoare of Associated Rigging, North Shore (Bus trip)
  • Amanda & Michael Vines of Vines Lawyers, Ocean Grove (Preparation of 2 Wills)
  • Chris & Geoff Clark & Susannah Lavery of C.B. Distribution (Wine)
  • Brian Edward (Elk Horn)
  • Patti Manolis (East Timorese stamps)
  • Bernie Madden (accommodation at Lorne)

for their very generous donations for the auction. With the wonderful auctioneering skills of David Courtous from McGrath Geelong, we raised $2200.

Thank you to the GVFS Committee so ably led by David & Julie Whelan, who supported the night in so many different ways.
